About the Conferences
INCON 2010
This International Conference on Nutrigenomics (INCON 2010) is the first nutrigenomics conference in Brazil and objectives to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of this new frontier of nutritional science in the world. The conference will explore the potential role, application and impact of nutrigenomics in addressing public health issues and will be attended by some of the world’s top scientists and experts in the field. Plenary presentations will discuss new perspectives on genes, nutrients and health, nutritional influences on molecular epidemiology and diseases (obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc), nutrient-gene interactions in normal and disease states, the use and impact of genomics in the food supply, individual population implications and the future of nutrigenomics in Brazil.
We expect this conference to be of particular interest to food scientists, nutritionists, dieticians, physicians, nurses, members of the food industry, food regulators, and people interested in how diet can interact with the human genome to influence their health. There will be many opportunities to network and begin collaborations between leading experts and participants in this rapidly-developing field.
ICMAA 2010
Carcinogenesis is a multi-step process, which is characterized by genetic, epigenetic, and phenotypic changes. Such changes involve mutation in critical genes related to the control of cell division, cell death and metastatic potential, and activation of signalizing or metabolic pathways that give the cells favorable growth and survival characteristics. With increasing of knowledge of these mechanisms, and the conclusion that most cases of cancer are preventable, efforts have focused on interrupting and/or reversing the mutagenic and carcinogenic processes. A wide array of natural and synthetic compounds has been reported to exert antimutagenic and anticarcinogenic effects in cell culture and animal systems. However, before to be applied to human population, the mechanisms of action and precise assessment of safety of these chemopreventive compounds have to be elucidated. The 10th International Conference on Mechanisms of Antimutagenesis and Anticarcinogenesis (ICMAA 2010) will be an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, stimulate collaboration and discuss how distinct sets of agents exert their chemopreventive activity contributing to improve human health.
